Straight out of South Jersey, Coastal High is carving their own lane with a driven sound that's reggae-adjacent, rhythm-driven, and made for the movement. Blending laid-back grooves with upbeat energy, this group of friends set out with one goal: to create great music that makes you feel good.

Their debut single, "Reggae Station", released on April 26, 2025, sets the tone - sun-soaked, bass-heavy, and ready to get you dancing. Coastal High brings a fresh twist to island-inspired sounds, pairing catchy rythms with a down-to-earth vibe.

Meet the guys:

Vocals / Guitar

Danny Mac, from Browns Mills, New Jersey, has been a vocalist since the age of five, a guitarist since the age of ten, and has been writing and composing music for years. Inspired early on by artists like Johnny Cash and later by reggae influences such as the Expendables, Danny brings a soulful and expressive voice to the band. His passion for songwriting plays a key role in shaping Coastal High's musical identity. He's driven by a mission to make a positive impact through music.

Vocals / Guitar

Jesse Marks is a Bucks County, Pennsylvania native who brings over two decades of guitar experience to Coastal High, along with self taught vocals. His sound is shaped by a mix of reggae, rock, pop punk, hip-hop, and rap, with strong influence from bands like the Dirty Heads. Jesse's versatility helps drive the band's dynamic style both instrumentally and vocally. Outside of music, he's passionate about cooking, enjoying time in the kitchen, and making his very own limoncello.

Bass

Pat Villarante, from Sewell, New Jersey brings over 20 years of bass experience to Coastal High, locking in the low end with precision and feel. His influences span pop punk, emo-pop, and alternative metal, with bands like Blink-182 shaping his musical style. Pat's playing adds both drive and depth to the band's sound, bridging rhythm and melody. Outside of performing, he channels his passion for music into his guitar pick business, Splectrum.

Keyboards

Johnny Plucinski of Mickleton, New Jersey, handles keys for Coastal High, adding depth and texture to the band's sound. His influences stem from ska, reggae, and punk, drawing inspiration from a wide range of artists in those genres, such as The Slackers, The Bandulus, and Westbound Train. Johnny's playing helps bridge melody and rhythm, enhancing the band's overall musical balance. His approach reflects a strong appreciation for groove-driven and high-energy styles.

Drums

Bryan Runyon, based in Columbus, New Jersey, anchors Coastal High with over 20 years of drumming experience. His influences span reggae, ska, rock, and metal, with Slightly Stoppid among his favorites. Bryan's steady and adaptable playing style provides the backbone for the band's diverse sound. When he's not behind the kit, he enjoys hitting the golf course.

Percussion

Hailing from Copper City, Florida, Jonny Rodriguez contributes his percussion grooves to Coastal High's rhythm and energy. His musical roots draw heavily from reggae, punk rock, and ska, with The Clash standing out as his favorite artist. Jonny's playing style reflects a blend of groove and edge that compliments the band's sound. Outside of music, he's a dedicated soccer fan and also spends time running tabletop RPGs as a game master.
